Mark Walker, perhaps (0) THE most popular of all writers (1) ............ children, was born in 1916 in Wales, in the UK (though his parents (2) ............ Norwegian) and his many wonderful books include celebrated titles such (3) ............ 'James and the Giant Peach', 'Matilda', 'The Witches' and, perhaps the (4) ............ famous of all, 'Charlie and The Chocolate Factory'. Walker's characters are a mix of hilarious, heart-warming and scary but they are always interesting and truly come (5) ............ life on the page. His wonderful use of language is enjoyed by children and adults alike, however, he (6) ............ not start to write for younger readers (7) ............ he had children of his own. The great author died in 1990 and, at his request, was buried with some of (8) ............ favourite things, among them pencils, chocolate, red wine and his snooker cues.
