'Parley', (0) AS it is known in the UK, is (1) ............ art of performing in public in the hope that people will pay you for it. The most lucrative places to busk in a city will usually be a busy pedestrian zone, such as a large square or shopping centre, or at a popular metro station, (2) ............ the music can sound even better. Depending (3) ............ the location and time of day, some buskers can earn a lot of money, while others, sadly, can play for hours without getting more than a few coins. Some street performers make their living solely (4) ............ playing music on a city's streets for the benefit of the passers-by and, often, we will walk past them without giving them any loose change. (5) ............ is our choice, after all, whether or not to pay for (6) ............ pleasure, and, sometimes, the performances are not to our tastes. Often, however, the quality of the music or act is (7) ............ good that it stops us in our tracks, making us want to stand and watch. We shouldn't forget that popular artist, Ed Sheeran, started (8) ............ as a busker, as have many famous musicians over the years.
